The Garden Behind the Gate

The Garden Behind the Gate is a performance-based mixed media painting where a dark outer field opens into a vivid inner body of green, red, pale blue and raw gestural marks. The work feels like a living threshold: part face, part shelter, part hidden landscape, formed through layers of paint, drips and physical energy. The painting belongs to Serhio Lichi's practice of treating the canvas as a charged object rather than a flat image. It carries the feeling of a ritual sign, a primitive structure, and a living creature emerging from instinct, resistance and the material itself.
